About the Artist

Andrés Ovalle H.
(Viña del Mar, Chile, 1970)

Visual artist.
Licenciado en Diseño Gráfico y Comunicación Visual, Universidad de Viña del Mar, Chile.

Since 1992 he has held thirty-six solo exhibitions. In March 2025 he presented the series Pandemia en Azul at the Museo Histórico Nacional of Chile.

He lived in New York from 2003 to 2006, where he worked in photography and decorative painting and was connected to the Nuyorican poetry movement.

He has represented Chile in major international events, including the 9th Beijing International Art Biennale (China, 2022) and the SIART International Art Biennale (Bolivia, 2009).

His work has been shown at the Center for Latin American Studies at Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

He is the author of the books La niña del islam (2025), La Flor de los Cuatro Colores (2024), Pandemia en azul (2023), Entrar en la Barca (2021), and Arte y desastre (2016).

He has also directed the documentaries Valparaíso es un Laboratorio (2019), El Arte en Tiempos de Pandemia (2022), and Arte a lo divino (2023).

His works are held in private collections in more than ten countries.
